Data released by Uttar Pradesh Tourism reveals that Kashi (Varanasi) tourism is growing rapidly, recording a 77.59% increase in Q1 2025 amid a surge in global and domestic visitors.
Kashi tourism is witnessing an extraordinary surge, cementing its place among the top tourist destinations for Indian travellers. In the first quarter of 2025, tourists to Kashi skyrocketed by 77.59%, with domestic visitor numbers soaring from 2.56 crore in 2024 to 11.46 crore in 2025, a staggering increase of nearly 8.89 crore, as reported by the UP-Tourism Department. International travelers also flocked to the spiritual city, with a 34.21% rise, from 98,961 to 1.50 lakh visitors, marking a significant milestone for tourism in Varanasi.
Varanasi has witnessed a remarkable surge in tourism, fueled by its sacred aura and transformative infrastructure. Revamped ghats, improved sanitation, better roads, and modern amenities have enhanced the city’s appeal, making it a must-visit for both domestic and international travelers.
